Motions of The Sun - Introduction
There has been a women's hospital in Liverpool since the late 18th Century and the present hospital, managed by the Liverpool Women's Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, has been open since 1994.
Just prior to the opening of this new hospital, in 1993, an Arts Committee was formed that has continued to raise money and purchase works of art for permanent exhibition within the hospital's public and patient areas.
It was in the middle of 1998 that Rebecca was approached by the coordinator of the Art's Committee with an invitation to submit a proposal for a piece of work. This was an open brief, but had to fit in with the general ambience and ethos of the hospital.
